PlayStation 30th Anniversary pre-orders – Pro, Portal, and DualSense controller dates and retailers

You’ll need to act fast if you’re expecting to land a PlayStation 30th Anniversary console, controller, or Portal pre-order.

Whether that’s for a PS5 Pro or PS5 Digital console, Portal handheld, or either of the DualSense controllers, if you’re after adding a piece of gaming history in your home, you’ll need to be on the ball.

Set to coincide with, and celebrate, three decades of Sony‘s iconic gaming platform, its latest machines are going back to the signature gray colouring. And, just like with the 20th anniversary items, they’re set to be a bother to get hold of.

How to pre-order the PlayStation 30th Anniversary consoles and controllers

Sony is set to release a number of its current hardware offerings in a very familiar PS1-era lick of paint to celebrate thirty years of its gaming platform.

Whether you’re looking to upgrade, double-dip, or finally go hands-on with a new device, here’s what’s set to go up for pre-order shortly:

When do PlayStation 30th Anniversary pre-orders open?

The following selection of PlayStation 30th Anniversary items are all set to go up for pre-order on September 26, 2024 at an unspecified time through the PlayStation Direct website:

  • Also available through participating retailers on the same day regardless of PlayStation Direct availability

In areas where PlayStation Direct isn’t available, pre-orders will open on September 26, 2024 at participating retailers. These have yet to be revealed, but could include the following:

How to pre-order a 30th Anniversary PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console

The 30th Anniversary PlayStation 5 digital-only console can be pre-ordered from PlayStation Direct on September 26.

Retailers around the globe will only begin accepting pre-orders from October 10.

That could mean that buyers in countries with PlayStation Direct access may get two attempts to nab the machine – one through first-party means, and again through participating retailers.

When do the PlayStation 30th Anniversary items release?

The full suite of PlayStation 30th Anniversary gadgets will release on November 21.

How much are the PlayStation 30th Anniversary items?

While there’s no guarntee as to the PlayStation 30th Anniversary prices just yet, a reputable source suggests the PlayStation 5 Digital console will retail for $499.99 (around £449.99 / €519.99). This is $50 more than the price of the standard PS5 Digital console.

The same source also suggested that the 30th Anniversary DualSense controller would be priced at £69.99 / €79.99. This would echo the price of the recently released Astro Bot controller.

Does PlayStation Direct charge on dispatch or order?

The PlayStation Direct website only charges when a placed order is ready to dispatch. That means you’ll only see the money for an order leave your account as it’s getting ready to be shipped in time for its release date.

So if you’re worried about forking out the whole amount just to place a pre-order: don’t be. You’ll only be charged for the order once it’s ready to leave the warehouse.
